Life's challenges

Bactriamap

As I sit here this evening eating my sugarless candy (trying to give up sugar at night!) I wonder where to begin to catch up on over 3 weeks worth of life. I suppose I can sum it up in three words - designing for Spring 2009, paperwork and Geffen.

Bits of Spring 2009 - we have an AMAZING new collection in the works for Spring 2009 - I call it "Ancient Glass" as it is made out of glass that is 2500 years old!!! Can you imagine? That glass was around at the same time the Buddha was alive and the Hippocratic oath was created. It is from an ancient part of the world called Bactria, which is found in modern day Afghanistan. The beads are made from broken plates and vases they found while excavating the site. The beads are hard to find, so this collection will have a limited run.

I just think it is so amazing to have jewelry made with beads that have so much history and carry such amazing energy! I find the designing process to be very moving. This collection as well as four other new collections will debut in NYC in Jan and will be seen in stores by Feb, March of 2009.

Paperwork - We just bought a new house!!!! I am soooo excited as our current house is such a dangerous house for Geffen - it is 3 levels, so it has a lot of stairs - it has no real backyard or front yard, no real place for Geffen to play outside - and it is built on a slope, where there are tons of places for Geffen to fall down the slope - And our new house? It is all one level - it has a gated backyard that is completely safe, it is close to a park and within walking distance of a great cup of coffee or tea - we move in 3 weeks, so I try to pack a little each night so as not to get overwhelmed. But, I will tell you - I have NEVER had to fill out so many forms in my life!!!!

Geffen - my 19 month old baby boy - I just love him - he makes me happy - I like to hang out with him, dance with him - make dinner for him - I did discover a new cookbook - it is by Jessica Seinfeld and it is called "Deceptively Delicious" and I am so so grateful for it - the one thing that scares me about being a mom is making sure my child eats well - as we are vegetarian and raising him as a vegetarian I need to make sure his diet is sound. Not only does this book help me with that issue - it is easy to use and Geffen loves all the recipes I have made him so far – I laugh inside as I write this as I have been avoiding cooking for years - You just never know where life’s changes will take you - and that is what makes life so exciting –
